The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s vape-, tobacco- and smoke-free campus sits within a smoke-free Health District established by a City of Birmingham ordinance. Together UAB’s policy and Birmingham’s ordinance promote a healthier environment for students, faculty, staff, patients and guests.

There is no safe level of first- or secondhand smoke, and the U.S. Health and Human Services Administration predicts that 5.6 million children age 18 or younger today will die from smoking if rates remain the same.

Our university campus is vape-, tobacco- and smoke-free and offers no approved smoking areas.There area limited number of designated smoking areas on the UAB Medicine campus where smoking cessation resources will be promoted.
